Can anyone help me? I am investigating the death of three 53rd Recconaisance regiment who apparently died on August 29th or 30th 1944 in the Forest of Lyons which surrounds Lyons La ForÍt, in upper Normandy, France. I am trying to find the exact location in which they died and the cause so that a request can be submitted for some form of memorial to be erected.

If anyone knows any information surround the death or knows any family members of the following soldiers can they please contact me.

The names are:

corporal Walter Ware 4077788,
Trooper Arthur Dick 14566053
Trooper Aubrey Drew 5777408

I have information concerning an event that took place in the forest and I want to see if there is a link.

Hi,
I have been searching the net for any information regarding the 53rd Welsh division playing football matches in Germany.I have a friend who has some original programmes left by his father and has asked me to see what i can find.out about them. I have not had any luck so far. The "programmes" are basic one sheet folded with the line-ups inside, on very thin blotting type paper. Some internationals representing sides too.He has 3 of these, against Schalke 04, Fortuna Dusseldorf and combined teams of Dusseldorf.Only 1 shows the year, 25th November 1945.
Any info or links to apprpiates sites, would be most appreciated. I have taken several photographs of each and have them if needed.

many thanks,John.
